I loved the relaxed old farm style of the property yet it has modern things like DSTV in each room, the staff were not in your face but there if you needed them, breakfast was great too.
We arrived at lunch time and would have liked a glass of wine or a beer whilst watching the rugby but was not available.

We spent our Easter vacation at a beautiful guest house surrounded by stunning gardens. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, which made us feel welcomed and at home. The breakfast provided was delicious and complimentary, which was a fantastic offer. Plus, the location was perfect for us to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere.
There were a few downsides. The noise from outside was sometimes irritating, and we could hear the loud petrol grass mowers every day. Also, the stairs in the family rooms were steep and potentially dangerous for young children. we had an enjoyable stay, but improvements could be made in the noise level and the safety of the accommodation.

Location of the hotel was convenient, being close to the highway. the establishment is surrounded by the greenery that the area has to offer, creating a calming and tranquil atmosphere.
The service was subpar, with staff not being welcoming or accommodating to guests.

The location was great for an Easter getaway. I enjoyed the beautiful scenery and the peace and quiet. the breakfast buffet was satisfactory, offering a good variety of foods. the staff members were accommodating and friendly.
It was small, with a tiny television and no microwave.

There was no chair in the room so was unable to sit at the desk/table; there were also no coathangers or anything to hang my jacket and shirts up; also the poor little panelheater did nothing to combat the cold weather (OK so the cold is not anyones fault, but a slightly more efficient heater would be nice...); the bathroom room did not open fully as the floor is uneven; the TV made terrible interferance noises even when switched off; there was no parking facility close to the rooms

The staff where very helpful and polite, they where willing to accommodate use for very early breakfast....05h30....
The photos on the inter net where deceiving and the outside of the estate was in a terrible condition, no landscaping and the road from the national road to the hotel was appalling. We stayed in a family room and only one person could shower as the hot water ran out and the water pressure was very weak, we had to go and shower at friends house that we know in Bloemfontein. It is totally not acceptable.

Our booking with Monte Bello was confirmed with Booked.net but when we were an hour out we decided to confirm with the hotel. They had no record of our booking. Micheal at Monte Bello did make a plan for us and got the room organised and arranged breakfast for us the next morning.
I requested the Honeymoon suite as it was our 1 year anniversary and our last stop from Stellenbosch to Joburg. The Jacuzzi bath was not working and this was the main difference between the rooms.

We were the only guests, but the night manager was there to welcome us that evening. The country quietness was pleasant.
While the accommodation itself was quite satisfactory, I wasn't impressed with the finish of the structure - more reminiscent of a low budget establishment. However, considering that the place is more suited for conference overnight facilities, it suited our purpose, ie a decent place to stay overnight.

Monte Bello Estate was an ideal stopover for us on our journey from Jo'Berg to Port Elizabeth (one night ) but it was such an enjoyable stay we could easily have stayed longer. There are 20+ rooms available and we booked room 1 (honeymoon suite) which was a delightful room. Our hostess was fantastic, providing us with an evening snack and beer-obviously at extra cost- which after our journey was very welcome. The rooms are on a beautifully secluded farmland estate and the roaming peacock was an added attraction! The breakfast being a full farmhouse which sets you up for the best part of a day. If we are ever in this area again we would definately try to stay here.
There was nothing to dislike about the Monte Bello.
